Clinical & Educational Psychologist

Philip is the Director of childpsych. He is a full member of the College of Clinical Psychologists and College of Educational & Developmental Psychologists. He has extensive experience with children as a teacher, school psychologist and child psychologist. Philip has advanced training in clinical psychology and education. His particular expertise is with the treatment of anxiety and mood disorders in children and adolescents, assessment of learning and developmental problems and the management of behaviour problems. He has conducted research on the nature of anxiety and personality in children and published research about children who refuse to attend school because of anxiety. Philip has a particular passion about the involvement of parents as co-therapists in treating their child's problems, which is reflected in the practice's core value of interdependence.

Senior Clinical Psychologist - Complex Therapeutic Services

Matthew has extensive experience in child and adolescent mental health and behavioural problems. He has worked at various levels of government within the Department of Communities Child Safety Services. Matthew has worked therapeutically with children-in-care as part of the EVOLVE team with Disability and Community Care Services. Matthew completed his masters dissertation on the impact of attachment styles of children and foster carers on placement stability. Matthew's particular interests include providing early intervention services to children with complex trauma and mental health needs, developmental psychology and autism spectrum disorders.
Lisa Lynn MAPS, MCEDP

Senior Educational & Developmental Psychologist

Lisa specialises in the area of developmental psychology and educational psychology. She studied psychology as a mature age student where she took a strong interest in the mental health problems of children as well as the learning problems in children. Lisa has worked with children-in-care, children with autism and general developmental problems of childhood. In addtion, Lisa specialises in assessing children with learning problems and is interested in the learning and developmental problems of children born premature. Lisa is a full member of the College of Educational & Developmental Psychologists.
Manager, accounts and payroll
Maria has worked in a variety of health and legal settings in administrative roles. Originally trained as a Health Information Manager, Maria re-trained in accountancy. She oversees the accounts with third party payers such as DoCS, federal government programs such as NDIS and non-government organisations as well as employee payroll.
Maria has over 10 years experience working in medical environments as a medical receptionist and practice manager. Maria brings to our office a professional manner and a drive to provide a high quality of care. Maria supervises office staff and provides administration support.
Dr Katie Thompson MAPS
Clinical Psychologist (Supervision & Training)
Katie is a clinical psychologist with over a decades experience working with children and adolescents. She has a strong background in the treatment of anxiety disorders. Katie has worked in government and private sectors as a psychologist delivering group and individual programs.
Dr Emma Ruddock MAPS, MCCP
Board Approved Supervisor
Emma has extensive experience working with a variety of childhood difficulties. She has advanced training in clinical psychology and is a full member of the College of Clinical Psychologists. Emma has worked in both private practice and as a Senior Clinical Psychologist at various levels of the government; most recently at EVOLVE Therapeutic Services working with children living in out-of-home care with complex needs and trauma histories. Emma has particular expertise in crisis management and the treatment of abuse, trauma and attachment difficulties in children and young people. Emma is also an experienced systemic practitioner.
Shannon Strecker MAPS

Educational & Developmental Psychologist
Shannon has over twelve years experience in the human services industry including six years experience in working with children of separated parents and their families, both therapeutically and in the family dispute area. As a Psychologist specialising in educational and developmental concerns, she brings with her a wealth of knowledge and therapeutic experience in supporting parents, children and adolescence to overcome the challenges that can arise throughout individual and family life cycles. Shannon has a long-term dedication to working with children and their families with the goals of enhancing individual wellbeing, strengthening interpersonal relationships and maximising growth and development in a safe and supportive environment.
Jessica has completed training in clinical psychology. She has experience working with children with autism and implementing Applied Behavioural Analysis. In addition, Jessica has worked in peadiatric outpatient and child mental health settings as well as with adults. Jessica has completed research on the effects of trauma on refugees resettling in Australia. Jessica has presented at conferences on parenting children with trauma.
Kaitlin Hinchliffe MAPS
Kaitlin is trained as an educational and developmental psychologist. She has worked in the QUT Developmental Psychology Clinic at Mater Children's Hospital working with children with complex neruodevelomental disorders, as well as in schools. She has worked with children with a range of childhood difficulties such as anxiety, behavioural problems and autism. Kaitlin has conducted research on the application of the parenting program, Triple P, for children with meal time difficulties as well the identification of children with anxiety in schools.

May is an experienced psychologist who has delivered child psychology services in schools and external private organisations. May has experience working with children and youth and a passion for Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
Rebecca Black AMAPS

Rebecca has over 10 years experience as a psychologist having worked in regional areas with adults and children. Rebecca works from an evidence-based perspective using child friendly cognitive behavioural therapy to treat a range of issues such as depression, anxiety and behavioural challenges.

Daniela completed her training in German in clinical psychology. Daniela has worked for non-government organisations as a Team Leader/Case Manager, social worker and worked in psychiatric clinics. Daniela has published research on the treatment of panic disorder and agoraphobia.
