Early Childhood Development

Want to truly understand the importance of a Childs first 5 years?

As we know, the first five years of a child's life are vital in terms of brain development. Children's brains develop more rapidly during this period than at any other time in their life, and it is at this time where children's brains are most flexible. As such, the first five years are critical in terms of learning and growth.

Infants have so much to gain from face to face interaction with their caregivers, such as speech and language development; learning to read others emotions; and social skills development. The impacts of this developmental period are significant and wide-reaching, extending from how a child learns to play and make friends at Kindergarten, to their ability to engage in secure and trusting adult relationships. As parents and carers it is so important to be mindful of how we communicate with the infants and children in our lives particularly as smartphones, tablets and televisions play a more prominent role in our daily lives.

The next time you find yourself mindlessly scrolling, take a moment to pause and see how the little person in your life reacts.
