'A' to 'Z' of Mental Health
The world over, children, their families and wider community have had one thing in common – learning to live with COVID. With the arrival of new variants, this has lead to a rise in uncertainty time-&-time again. Families are trying to manage changes in schooling, work arrangements, family routines and rituals. For many this has become and trying and exhausting time, but why not create different, but equally memorable family moments. Rather than dining out, this may become “outdoor fancy restaurant”, backyard camping, or dusting off the traditional family games with a competitive Monopoly tournament.
When helping your family learn how to manage uncertainty there are a few opportunities to learn valuable life skills. One of the best antidotes to uncertainty is to remain in the present rather than letting your mind get caught up with future concerns; bring “coping thoughts” to the forefront of your mind; and remember what strategies have previously helped the family and young ones worries.
